Rio Ferdinand suggests that Chelsea target and AC Milan star Rafael Leao is a better player than Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez.
Leao, 23, is a Portuguese attacker linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge in 2023.
Journalist Simon Phillips claims that Chelsea have been in conversations with AC Milan to try sign left-winger Leao. He may reportedly cost as much as £128million, though.
Meanwhile, Inter centre-forward Martinez will still be celebrating becoming a World Cup winner with Argentina on the weekend.
Gazzetta dello Sport reported back in the summer Chelsea were interested in signing the 25-year-old, who ended up staying in Inter colours this season.

Leao better than Martinez
When choosing between Rafael Leao or Lautaro Martinez, Ferdinand replied on his YouTube channel: “Leao.
“Both have had limited minutes in the tournament, but if I was a manager and I wanted to purchase one of those two strikers, Leao will be the first on my list out of those two.”

In our view, Leao is the superior of the two and an ideal target for Chelsea.
Martinez definitely has quality, scoring eight goals and making six assists in 21 Inter Milan games this season. He started just one of Argentina’s games during their World Cup success, though.
Current target Leao, who’s two years younger, looks the real deal.
The quick attacker has 16 goals contributions in 20 AC Milan appearances this season, as well as a couple of World Cup goals to his name in Qatar.
Aside from his numbers, Leao is such a brilliant eye-catching player who makes things happen on a pitch with his pace and directness.
