Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he wants to see Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson strike up a partnership at Chelsea.
It was Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard who quoted the Argentine on the Chelsea duo.
So, what did Mauricio Pochettino say about Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku in full? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the South American watched both players score in Sunday’s 4-3 win over Brighton as the Premier League Summer Series continues in the United States.
Jackson in particular looked very sharp throughout, as the Senegal international – who recently arrived in a £32m deal from Villarreal – grabbed two assists to go with his goal.
Nkunku also bagged a poacher’s finish, and Pochettino is keen to see the £52m Frenchman combine with the Senegalese frontman more often.
The 51-year-old said: “For sure in future I want to see Jackson with Nkunku.”

On the basis of Sunday’s win over Brighton, we see no reason why that partnership cannot thrive in the Premier League.
Jackson proves he can be the glue for Nkunku and others at Chelsea
When you think of a proper No.9 in football, someone who can hold the ball up and bring others into play, as well as score goals for themselves, springs to mind.
We may only have seen a small glimpse of Jackson at Chelsea so far, but the 22-year-old has proved he can tick plenty of boxes for Chelsea in attack.

Specifically, the Banjul-born striker’s work in the buildup for Mykhailo Mudryk’s goal was superb. It looked as if he’d been playing with the Ukraine international for years, let alone weeks.
Touches and awareness like that bode very well for Jackson at Chelsea, and given the fact he has teammates who boast excellent movement around him, such as Conor Gallagher, Mudryk and Nkunku, we expect big things from the Senegalese wonderkid.
