The Chelsea first team squad which will be selected by Enzo Maresca for the 2025/26 squad is starting to take shape amid a host of new arrivals.

Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens are all set to be involved after big-money moves to Stamford Bridge early in the summer transfer window.

Many are hoping that Andrey Santos will be given chances in the Chelsea side after finding opportunities hard to come by at the Club World Cup. Maresca believes Santos needs more time to adapt to his system.

One position that will still need replacing is third-choice goalkeeper, after Marcus Bettinelli decided to fill the role at Manchester City.

Forgotten Chelsea man Gabriel Slonina in contention for first team spot

Bettinelli sent a parting shot to Todd Boehly in regards to his squad building, and it remains to be seen if the Blues look to replace his experience this summer.

They could instead hand the position to a youngster, with Gabriel Slonina one of the first players signed since Boehly took over the club.

The American spent last season on loan at Barnsley, however saw his time cut short after Slonina suffered a finger injury.

Despite never making an appearance for Chelsea up to now, The Athletic have claimed that the USA international is under consideration to be the third-choice shot stopper at the club next season.

There is still no clarity over who will start between the sticks next season, with confidence in current number one Robert Sanchez wavering.

Slonina up against another young goalkeeper for Chelsea spot

It is well known that Chelsea have signed plenty of goalkeepers over the last few years, with many yet to make their competitive debut for the club.

Another who fits that bill is Mike Penders, with the club very excited about the young Belgian’s future.

It had previously been claimed that they best saw his immediate future on loan, however could change their mind amid fears that he wouldn’t feel any connection to his new club.

Reports have now stated there is a good chance Penders stays with Chelsea this summer. He is currently with the first team squad at the Club World Cup.
