Chelsea will no doubt have had a close eye on the going ons of AC Milan’s most recent fixtures for a number of reasons.
The Blues have been strongly linked with a move for Rafael Leao at the end of this season, after holding an interest in him that has lasted as long as the new owners have been in town.
Milan no longer see Leao as untouchable as far as a move away from the club is concerned, creating what looks the best possible opportunity for Chelsea to complete the deal if they want to.
The Blues have maintained an interest in the Portugal international as a result of an underwhelming spell from Jadon Sancho, who is set to join the club permanently from Manchester United at the end of the season.

Rafael Leao outshone by former Chelsea star Pedro
Leao lined up on the left of attack for Milan against Lazio in an attempt to move back towards the Champions Leaue places in Serie A.
The winger enjoyed a strong performance, providing an assist and creating the most chances of any player on the pitch.
| Rafael Leao vs Lazio | Total |
| Minutes | 90 |
| Assists | 1 |
| Chances Created | 6 |
| Successful dribbles | 3/5 |
| Duels won | 5 |
However, they were defeated 2-1, with former Chelsea star Pedro securing all three points for Lazio with a 98th minute penalty following a lengthy VAR check.
The Spaniard enjoyed a very succesful spell at Stamford Bridge, playing a key role in the Premier League-winning campaign under Antonio Conte.
He also found the net in the Europa League final against Arsenal back in 2019, a game known for being the final one in Eden Hazard’s illustrious Chelsea career.

Joao Felix’s AC Milan struggles continue
After a promising start to life on loan away from Stamford Bridge, Joao Felix’s spell away from the club took another rough turn in their most recent game.
The Portuguese star was dropped to the bench after fans and media in Italy have become critical of his performances. Felix was described as ‘a ghost’ in his most recent start for the illustrious European side.
It has been claimed Felix is likely to return to Chelsea at the end of this season, with them always going to be demanding a high fee for him to leave at the end of his first campaign at the club.
Milan’s appetite to sign him will have decreased as time has gone on, and any potential swap deal involving Leao is now going to almost certainly be off the table.
