Frank Lampard thinks that this current Chelsea ownership will afford Mauricio Pochettino time at the club.

The Blues owners have been trigger happy when it come to sacking managers during their first year and a half at Stamford Bridge, so will Mauricio Pochettino fare any better than his predecessors?

Some eyes are already fixed on the Blues head coach after a rocky start to the season, albeit a couple of good results in the past few days has some released some tension in the atmosphere.

Chelsea beat Brighton 1-0 in the third round of the Carabao Cup last Wednesday. They followed that up last night with a 2-0 away win against Fulham in the Premier League.

Lampard has had first-hand experience with the current Chelsea board after managing the club on an interim basis towards the back end of last season. It’s very interesting to hear his prediction that Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly will give Pochettino the time he needs to gel this very young squad of players.

When asked if Pochettino will get patience from the Chelsea owners, Lampard told Sky Sports’ Main Event channel (6:44pm, 2 October): “I think he will get it. I think he deserves it. He’s a man that comes with a big pedigree as a coach. I’ve already referenced some of the issues I saw, and he’ll have his own version of that.”

We doubt there’s any manager out there that would find instant success working in Chelsea’s current environment.

Even if you ignore the terrible injury record, the Blues squad is just extremely young and inexperienced compared to some others across the Premier League.

We want to see Pochettino given time to see through a project, which means sticking by him when results are poor.

In fairness, The Telegraph recently claimed that Chelsea’s co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are keeping their faith in Pochettino.
