Frank Leboeuf has made a pretty big claim about Chelsea and their involvement in the Conference League tournament this year.
Chelsea are certainly the biggest club competing in the Conference League this season, with its final being held at the Wrocław Stadium in 2025.
The Blues successfully came through a two-legged play-off tie with Servette last month to reach the group stages, winning by a 3-2 scoreline on aggregate. Unfortunately, Chelsea fans strongly criticised Benoit Badiashile after his display in Europe.
It’s not the European competition that Enzo Maresca’s side will have hoped to be competing in this term, but they’re aiming to add the Conference League prize to their previous trophies in the Champions League and Europa League.

Frank Leboeuf rips into Conference League
ESPN pundit Frank Leboeuf has just delivered a huge dig at the Conference League by claiming he doesn’t take it seriously from a Chelsea perspective.
When asked if the Blues will take the Conference League competition seriously, Leboeuf told ESPN: “Do I take the Conference League seriously? No, I don’t care. I hope they (Chelsea) will consider it a backup and they will do very well in the Premier League. But they have so much to think about.”
Chelsea fixtures in the Conference League
Whether people like it or not, Chelsea are involved in this year’s Conference League.
If you’re looking at it positively, Maresca should have a decent opportunity of winning silverware in this tournament. Also, there should be a chance to rotate his squad and keep lots of players involved with regular game time.
Here is a look at Chelsea’s matches in the Conference League group stages…
- Chelsea vs Gent (3 October)
- Panathinaikos vs Chelsea (24 October)
- Chelsea vs Noah (7 November)
- Heidenheim vs Chelsea (28 November)
- Astana vs Chelsea (12 December)
- Chelsea vs Shamrock Rovers (19 December)
For the likes of Filip Jorgensen, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Guiu in the Blues squad, this competition is going to be vital for them this season.
