Enzo Maresca made several changes to his Chelsea defence and team in the Blues’ Conference League game against Servette earlier.
That included the inclusion of Benoit Badiashile, who also started in the first leg of Chelsea‘s Conference League play-off tie versus Servette.
It is where the central defender is likely to get his minutes this season, with Maresca using Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana in the Premier League.
Despite not being a starter, Badiashile won’t be leaving Chelsea on Friday, the final day of the 2024 summer transfer window.

Chelsea fans react to Benoit Badiashile’s performance versus Servette
As already mentioned, Colwill and Fofana have been Chelsea’s first-choice centre-back pairing so far this season.
They started in the Blues’ games against Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Badiashile was named on the bench.
And looking at what some Chelsea supporters have been saying on social media about the 23-year-old’s display against Servette, it is unlikely that they will want the above to change.
One Chelsea fan took to X to criticise both Badiashile and Axel Disasi, saying: “Disaster [Disasi] and Badiashile are so washed.”
Another supporter was also not impressed with Badiashile and Disasi, posting: “Disasi and Badiashile. The Chuckle Brothers.”
And finally, one Chelsea fan asked: “Why is Benoit Badiashile still at Chelsea?”
Badiashile has never wanted to leave Chelsea this summer, and it looks like he will not be departing.
Which centre-backs will start against Crystal Palace?
Chelsea’s next game is against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.
With Colwill not starting in the match versus Servette and Fofana not even part of the squad, you would expect both players to return to Maresca’s first XI for the upcoming London derby at Stamford Bridge.
The likes of Badiashile and Disasi will be disappointed, but with Chelsea making it to the group stage of the Conference League, the French duo will at least get minutes in that competition this season.
If they are not satisfied with that and being back-up options, then there is always the January transfer window.
