Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf has predicted whether Chelsea will finish above Manchester United this season.

Chelsea take on Manchester United on Wednesday and Frank Leboeuf has been speaking about the two sides on ESPN FC.

The Blues are currently five points behind their rivals in the Premier League table, so Mauricio Pochettino will love a win to cut the gap.

The Argentine was able to guide his side to victory last time out, a 3-2 win against Brighton & Hove Albion, but was not too happy about some of the officiating he saw.

Frank Leboeuf not confident Chelsea will finish above Manchester United

If United manage to beat Chelsea on Wednesday, Leboeuf says they will definitely go on to finish above the Blues.

Discussing the two clubs on ESPN FC, he said: “If Manchester United win [the] next game, which is on Wednesday against Chelsea, I can clearly say that Manchester United is going to finish above Chelsea.

“But if by any kind of chances… I would say Chelsea can win at Old Trafford, [then] that will be a big fight between those two. But how disappointing it is to say that none of them are going to finish in the first four.”

Who will finish higher this season, Chelsea or Manchester United?

Right now, you would have to say United. There is just no real consistency with this Chelsea team, which is why they find themselves in mid-table.

United have not been amazing this season either, but Erik ten Hag’s men have picked up wins even when they have not been playing well.

The fact that Chelsea keep on pressing the self-destruct button is not helping the Blues’ cause as well.

They have already received three red cards this season, the latest coming against Brighton over the weekend after Conor Gallagher was shown two yellows, while there have also been some very bad defensive mistakes of late. For example, Thiago Silva’s costly error against Newcastle United.

It is not impossible for Chelsea to finish above United, especially with the Red Devils only being five points above them at this moment in time.

But that gap could grow on Wednesday and, from what they have shown this term, it is hard to imagine them recovering. Chelsea have to leave Old Trafford with at least one point.
