Frank Leboeuf suggests 24-year-old Chelsea target would actually reject them

Frank Leboeuf admits he would love former club Chelsea to go and sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

The No 9 striker position continues to be a source of frustration at Stamford Bridge, with the jury still out on Blues youngsters Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja.

Therefore, it’s no real surprise to see transfer rumours linking Chelsea to the signing of a new striker.

Victor Osimhen, who’s just 24, has been frequently linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

ESPN pundit Frank Leboeuf thinks Napoli’s Osimhen would be the ideal addition for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. However, he’s suggested that the player himself could reject the move.

When asked who he would sign for Chelsea, Leboeuf told ESPN: “Osimhen would be a very good target.

“Before trying to sell players in order to buy a striker, you have to make a list of available strikers and strikers who are willing to come. I’m not sure you’re going to find anybody.

“Chelsea is not playing in the Champions League. Chelsea is 12th in the league. Which top strikers would like to come to play for Chelsea right now? None.

“…Do you really think that Osimhen or anybody else can help Chelsea sort all problems out?”

Chelsea interested in Victor Osimhen

90min recently claimed that Chelsea do have plans in place to make a move for Osimhen next summer. Apparently, he could cost at least £112million to prise away from Napoli.

He’s scored 66 goals in 116 games during a successful time in Italy with Napoli, but we’d love to see him test himself in England’s top division.

Osimhen does look like the sort of top level striker that Chelsea are crying out for, but we do agree it may become increasingly more difficult to attract these players to West London if the team keeps faltering.

The difference will be night and day if the Blues can find that frontman to score 20 goals per season.
