‘Frustration’: Some people at Chelsea are now annoyed that they haven’t signed £50m player yet – journalist

Journalist Miguel Delaney has claimed that there are some at Chelsea who are annoyed that they haven’t already confirmed the signing of Romeo Lavia.

He took to Twitter to state that despite the ongoing negotiations over a deal, there are some who have been annoyed that he wasn’t available for their Premier League opener against Liverpool.

It looks at this stage that the Blues are now the favourites to complete a deal for Lavia despite the Reds reportedly agreeing a fee with Southampton over a transfer.

It has been frequently claimed that a fee of around £50m will be enough to complete a deal after relegation last season.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have been seen as the favourites for the deal throughout most of the summer, however things took a big twist last week.

It seemed them and the Blues switched priority targets temporarily, and Liverpool agreed a deal with Brighton to sign Moises Caicedo.

However, the Ecuador international only wanted a move to Stamford Bridge, and rejected the chance to complete a medical there.

Now, it looks as if the same fate is about to occur with the Championship player, who reportedly also favours a move to West London.

Now though, Delaney has claimed that there are some at the club who think that things should have been wrapped up much sooner.

He said: “Chelsea negotiating on £50m plus add-ons for Lavia – some frustration as could have been done for Liverpool last week – other clubs discussing Chelsea spending but no contact with PL, although FFP rules expected to be brought in line with Uefa.”

Against Liverpool, Mauricio Pochettino elected to start Enzo Fernandez alongside Conor Gallagher, who both put in sensational performances in their own right.

It was the Argentine who took most of the headlines though, and the promise of him playing further advanced seems to be a tantalising prospect.
