Gabby Agbonlahor does not think one of Chelsea’s players would get into Manchester City’s team right now despite his excellent form this season.

Cole Palmer joined Chelsea from City last summer in a £45m deal (Evening Standard) and has been an absolute revelation at Stamford Bridge. In 28 appearances, the attacker has scored 12 goals and provided nine assists.

However, speaking on talkSPORT, Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that Palmer would still not get into Pep Guardiola’s side.

The 21-year-old will go up against his former team on Saturday when Chelsea travel to the Etihad to take on the Premier League champions.

The two English giants played out an exciting 4-4 draw the last time they met, with Palmer getting his name on the scoresheet after dispatching a last-minute penalty to earn Mauricio Pochettino‘s men a point.

Cole Palmer would not start for Manchester City

Palmer has been one of the most productive attackers in the Premier League this season.

Agbonlahor, though, still does not think that the Englishman would be a starter under Guardiola.

On Palmer, the former Aston Villa striker said: “Palmer’s been outstanding, but would Palmer break into this Manchester City side? I don’t think so.”

Cole Palmer still good enough for Manchester City

City have so many good attacking players, so maybe, even at this moment in time, Palmer would still not get into their side.

However, what he has shown this season is that he is more than good enough to be in their squad.

But Palmer clearly wanted to be more than a squad player, hence his move to Chelsea, and joining the Blues is not something he will regret.

The former City man is obviously thriving there and has since gone on to become a full England international. He will be happy with that and the fact that he is just playing.

Some trophies would be nice and Palmer will have the chance to win one next weekend when Chelsea take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.
