Gary Cahill is the latest individual to weigh in with their opinion about Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher amid transfer speculation about his future.
Conor Gallagher, who’s a product of the Chelsea academy, is linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge. The 24-year-old midfielder may have been a key player last season at Stamford Bridge, but there’s now a lot of talk about him potentially leaving his boyhood club.
It’s recently been reported by GiveMeSport that Atletico Madrid’s £34m offer for Gallagher has been accepted and he’s now deciding if he wants a move to the Spanish capital. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano on X, Atletico want the Gallagher saga finalised this weekend.
While speaking on talkSPORT, Gabriel Agboblahor said Gallagher would suit Atletico. Is the England international ready to move abroad and join international teammate Jude Bellingham in Madrid, albeit on opposite divides?

Gary Cahill wants Chelsea to keep Conor Gallagher
Gary Cahill has admitted that his preference would be for Gallagher to stay at Chelsea because he’s a huge fan of his. In particular, he said that the energetic central midfielder so often sets the tone for the team with his work.
“I cant speak on behalf of the club but I can have my own opinion. From the outside looking in, I would love him (Gallagher) to stay,” Cahill told The Athletic.
“Since he broke into this Chelsea team, we’ve seen the managers playing him, giving him the responsibility of having the armband, clearly seeing day in, day out what he brings. That’s why they’re playing him and that’s why they’re giving him such a big role, a responsible role, at that age.
“So I think he epitomises a lot of the kind of the way he sets the tempo, the way he presses, his attitude. Everything that I’ve heard and know about him, I really like. Aside from that, he’s a top player. So in my opinion, I’ve got a lot of time for him.”
Can Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall replace the Conor Gallagher attacking threat?
Gallagher was certainly a useful attacking option from midfield last season, scoring seven goals and making nine assists across all competitions. He’s certainly capable of boosting those numbers, too.
If the Englishman does leave, will new signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall be good enough to fill that void?
Dewsbury-Hall was so effective as an advanced midfielder last season at Leicester City, scoring 12 goals and making 15 assists across the board. This was all done under the watchful eye of Maresca as well, with the pair now reunited in West London.
It’s going to be a different kind of challenge for Dewsbury-Hall to replicate the success in the top division, but he should have confidence of scoring and assisting in the same system.
