Last night saw Gary Neville make a completely new prediction for where Chelsea are going to finish in the Premier League this season.

He told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football that he now thinks the Blues are set to finish 5th in the league, just one game into the season.

The Blues got their season underway with the tricky test of Liverpool at home, as they looked to show that they were about to bring to the new season.

This is coming off a dire campaign last season where they finished in the bottom half, however they showed plenty of signs that they had built significantly on that.

Chelsea were the better of the two teams, however could not find a winner as they were forced to settle for a point.

Before the campaign got underway, Neville claimed that he could see them finishing in the top four, and therefore qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

However, on yesterday’s feature he instead put them in 5th, with Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool making up the top four.

This was particularly interesting as it came just hours after the Blues agreed their club-record signing of Moises Caicedo from Brighton.

The saga lasted the majority of the summer window, however they finally announced his addition yesterday.

It looks as if they are not done there as far as bringing in midfielders goes. It was claimed yesterday that Romeo Lavia has now decided that he wants to join the Blues for next season.

A deal still needs to be reported to be made, however it is expected that it will be a formality at this stage that he will find his way to Stamford Bridge.
