If there is one word that can be used to describe how the Chelsea ownership are operating right now, it would probably be ruthless.
Todd Boehly and co have made it no secret that if you do not fit into their plans, they have no issue phasing you out from the team.
This seems to be occurring to Raheem Sterling, who was not named in the matchday squad for the opening game of the season against former side Manchester City.
This saw Sterling’s camp make a statement before the game, with Gary Lineker theorising that he is putting the feelers out there for a potential move away.
A number of other players who played a key role for the Blues particularly late last season seem to have been frozen out in the form of Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah.

Gallagher is close to confirming his move to Atletico Madrid, while Chalobah was left off the pre-season tour in an attempt to find him a new club.
Given that both players came through the academy at Chelsea, it leaves a bad taste for many that they are being treated the way they are.
Neville heartbroken at Chelsea treatment of Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah
One person who echoes this sentiment is Gary Neville, who told Monday Night Football that he would be devastated if the same fate had met him at Manchester United.
He said: “When you’re treating Conor Gallagher, Chalobah and players like that that have come through the ranks, who have been at the club since they were kids, and you are trying to get them out and force them out, that’s heartbreaking.
“That’s heartbreaking for me as a player who came through the academy at Manchester United. Imagine if that’s what was happening at my club, I would be absolutely devastated.”
Chelsea about to sign Joao Felix
It is not exactly setting a great path to the first team for some of the most talented youngsters at the club, with them left to believe they will be surplus to requirements at any moment.
It remains to be seen how Enzo Maresca deals with the plethora of incoming signings, with the addition of Joao Felix adding more headaches for the manager to deal with.
