The summer break has zoomed past, as we now see some of the Chelsea squad returning to Cobham for pre-season under Xabi Alonso.

The Xabi Alonso era at Chelsea has been delayed, with the Spaniard set to commence his work at Cobham from July 9th.

While Alonso will arrive at Cobham in just over a weeks time, pre-season training for the first crop of players not involved in World Cup duties seems to have begun.

However, the preparation window will be brief, as the Blues quickly embark on an intensive global summer exhibition tour, with the multi-continent itinerary kicking off in Sydney on July 28, before taking the squad through fixtures in Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Malaysia.

Who would you start in a five-man defence for Chelsea?

Dastan Satpayev, Geovany Quenda and Reggie Walsh seen in Chelsea training

An image and a video was shared by ScoutEurasia, who always seems to have the inside scoop on Dastan Satpayev, having watched him during his time at FC Kairat.

In the video, you can see the Chelsea youngster, who is set to officially join when he turns 18 in August, lifting weights and getting acclimatised to Cobham.

Meanwhile, the image, which is of a training pitch at Cobham, shows the likes of Satpayev, Geovany Quenda and what appears to be Reggie Walsh.

Other Chelsea players can be seen, but it’s too difficult to make out who they are.

Who will be a bigger success – Enzo Maresca or Xabi Alonso? 🤔

City have confirmed Maresca will replace Guardiola.

The new faces we can expect to see at Chelsea this summer

Chelsea’s squad this summer will likely feature a blend of exciting young arrivals and Alonso’s targeted reinforcements.

Highlighting the new faces is Portuguese sensation Geovany Quenda, who joins from Sporting CP as one of Europe’s most expensive and exciting teenage wingers. Joining him, as mentioned, is 17-year-old Dastan Satpayev, who will be given a chance during the pre-season tour.

Elsewhere, midfielder Reggie Walsh isn’t quite a new face, having already made history as the club’s youngest Champions League debutant, but he is expected to also be given a chance.

To address things defensively, Chelsea are about to sign Atalanta right-back Marco Palestra and are deep in talks for Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria.

Finally, Xabi Alonso remains determined to add some experience to his midfield with the signing of top target Granit Xhaka.
