ESPN FC pundit Janusz Michallik is backing Chelsea to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with Victor Osimhen and Michallik, speaking on ESPN FC, believes that the Blues will land the Nigerian.

Todd Boehly may have to smash the club’s transfer record if he wants to bring Osimhen to Stamford Bridge, though.

According to TEAMtalk, Napoli will not accept anything less than £140m for their talisman amid Chelsea’s interest.

Janusz Michallik convinced Chelsea will sign Victor Osimhen

While it looks like Osimhen is going to cost huge money, Michallik is still backing Chelsea to land the 24-year-old.

Speaking on ESPN FC, the former USA international said: “I just think that this is going to happen, last-ditch effort from Chelsea because, I mean, who else are they going to get?”

Are Chelsea definitely going to sign Victor Osimhen?

We do not think it is guaranteed; however, the club certainly do have a good chance.

Chelsea are probably one of few teams who would be prepared to spend crazy money on Osimhen. They signed Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion for £115m during the summer, as reported by Sky Sports.

If you can spend that amount of money on a midfielder, then you can do the same with a forward who is actually going to decide games for you and be the difference.

Osimhen, of course, is not the only No.9 Chelsea are looking at right now. The Blues are also keen on Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

The above is just one reason why Mauricio Pochettino may not end up with the Nigeria international in his squad.

If Toney is the striker Chelsea bring in, the Argentine can still be happy, though. He was in devastating form last season and looks like he could be a real asset to the team.

In 33 Premier League appearances, the 27-year-old scored 20 goals. Chelsea have not had that kind of firepower since Diego Costa.
