Don Hutchison can’t believe Graham Potter didn’t start Chelsea youngster Carney Chukwuemeka in the weekend’s defeat against Manchester City.
The Blues suffered more misery on Sunday, this time losing 4-0 away to Man City in the FA Cup. It means Chelsea have now been knocked out of both domestic cups at the first hurdle by Pep Guardiola’s side.
Chelsea’s misery against Man City this season included a 1-0 defeat against them last week in the Premier League. There were some eye-catching performances from Blues youngsters to lift spirits, though.

Chukwuemeka against Manchester City
ESPN pundit Hutchison was amazed Potter overlooked Chukwuemeka at the weekend.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder was excellent during a league performance against Man City that lasted over an hour, replacing an injured Christian Pulisic in the first-half.
However, he was only given the final 20 minutes from the bench in Sunday’s cup defeat at the Etihad Stadium.
Hutchison told ESPN: “Chukwuemeka, who did really well in the previous game against City… he’s thinking, ‘I’m starting the next game against City. I played that well, I’m going to be starting.’
“He would’ve been probably the first name on the team sheet because he did so well and because he’s got the personality, the legs, and the energy.”

In our view, Chukwuemeka does need more minutes in the games ahead.
The English youngster, who’s ranked as the 10th most exciting teenager in the world, looks ready to help this team.
Potter’s side are down on confidence right now, but Chukwuemeka plays with great personality and freedom when he steps on the pitch.
He looks physically strong enough and talented enough to help this Chelsea XI right now.
