Graeme Souness has shared that he’s got question marks about how good Chelsea’s first-team player actually is.

Interestingly, Graeme Souness has been generally positive about what’s happening at Chelsea recently. Speaking via The Daily Mail earlier this month, Souness praised Blues head coach Enzo Maresca for his impact at Stamford Bridge.

Overall, we’ve been impressed by how quickly Maresca has implemented his ideas and philosophy into the group of players.

However, Souness still isn’t convinced by Blues attacker Jadon Sancho.

Graeme Souness unsure on Jadon Sancho

During a conversation on Up Front’s YouTube channel about Liverpool’s 2-1 league win over Chelsea on Sunday, Sancho’s name came up in the conversation.

Souness commented: “He takes off Trent Alexander-Arnold and puts a better defender on in [Joe] Gomez.

Journalist Henry Winter replied: “It worked. Gomez was good. Trent Alexander-Arnold had already seen off…

Souness then added: “He hadn’t seen off the little winger from Dortmund (Sancho). He sees himself off. I’m not convinced about Sancho.”

Chelsea the right fit for Jadon Sancho

In general, Sancho should be really pleased with how things have started for him at Chelsea.

The 24-year-old winger joined the Blues in the summer on a season-long loan from Manchester United, which includes an obligation to buy next year for £25m (BBC).

He’s forced his way into the best starting line-up with his performances, creating three assists in five appearances. Admittedly, he was substituted off at half-time on Sunday after a quiet 45 minutes versus Liverpool.

We feel like Sancho’s in the right place right now to thrive as a winger that loves to dribble one-on-one at his full-back. However, he’ll need to keep his levels high because there’s massive competition for places within the squad.

GiveMeSport claimed this week that Chelsea winger Pedro Neto could be about to play a bigger role in the team, which means that either Sancho or Noni Madueke could drop out of the starting XI in the wide areas.
