‘Great’ forward linked to Chelsea already has 22 goal contributions this season

Enzo Maresca will be happy with his forward options right now, with both Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku scoring goals for Chelsea this season.

However, Chelsea could be tempted to make a move for one striker in January or next summer.

He has been in fantastic form for both club and country and has already been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

For now, Jackson is likely to continue as Chelsea’s first-choice striker. Jackson was not sent off against Nottingham Forest before the international break despite putting his hand on Morato’s face, so the 23-year-old will be available for Sunday’s trip to Liverpool.

Viktor Gyokeres in form for Sporting Lisbon and Sweden

Last month, it was claimed that Chelsea scouted Gyokeres in a Champions League tie, Sporting Lisbon’s 2-0 victory over Lille.

Gyokeres scored on the night and since then, he has gone on to reach 22 goal contributions for club and country following his goal and assist against Estonia on Monday.

Ultimately, he could become a very appealing option for Chelsea in the new year, if he is not already.

The only problem is his price tag, with it being well-documented that Gyokeres has a €100m (£83.4m) release clause in his contract.

Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku could block Viktor Gyokeres move

Combined, Jackson and Nkunku have scored 11 goals in all competitions this season.

They have been winning Chelsea games, with Jackson’s brace against West Ham United last month helping the Blues to secure three points, while Nkunku netted a winner versus Bournemouth the match before.

What Gyokeres is doing right now is obviously incredible. “He is a great player,” former Portugal defender Jorge Andrade told beIN SPORTS in an interview.

However, if Chelsea’s two main centre-forwards continue scoring, a move for the Sweden international seems unlikely, especially if he is going to cost more than £80m.

If the goals dry up, then it becomes a different story. But for the sake of the Blues’ season, Maresca will be desperate for that not to happen.
