Harry Kane has made a comparison between Bayern Munich teammate Michael Olise and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer ahead of the upcoming Champions League showdown.
Bayern Munich host Chelsea on Wednesday night in their opening league phase match of this season’s Champions League.
Without a doubt, Enzo Maresca’s side have a tough test ahead of them at the Allianz Arena. In fact, Bayern’s incredible 12-year record is that they haven’t lost a home match in the Champions League group stages since 2013.
If the Blues are to pick up three points, Cole Palmer may need to be at his dazzling best. Chelsea head coach Maresca was tight-lipped on whether Palmer would start against Bayern during his pre-match press conference.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder is part of a very strong squad that has travelled to Munich for the European showdown.

Harry Kane compares Michael Olise and Cole Palmer
Harry Kane, 32, knows all about Chelsea playmaker Palmer because they’re teammates on the international stage with England.
During his pre-match press conference before Wednesday’s match, Kane made a comparison between Palmer and 23-year-old Bayern attacker Michael Olise.
When asked about the similarities between Palmer and Olise, Kane said via Bayern Munich’s YouTube channel: “Two great players. They have a lot of similar attributes. I think they both find the space really well. Their forward passing is really good. They see runs and through balls and execute at a high level. Both of them score goals.
“Michael might be a bit more of a wide player sometimes. He can play 1v1 and use his pace a little bit more. Cole might like to come into the No.10 position, or even as a No.9 and run in behind and finish himself. Some differences there as well. Both fantastic players. I’m glad Michael is with us and not with them.”

Olise, who’s a left-footed attacker, is devastating as a right-winger or a No.10. Chelsea fans will need to be wary of the Frenchman because he’s started this season with four goals in five appearances across all competitions.
Chelsea pulled out of a deal to sign Olise back in 2024. Instead, he’s developed into one of Europe’s elite forwards since joining Bayern from Crystal Palace 14 months ago.
We agree with Kane that Olise and Palmer are two special talents who operate at the highest level on the football pitch.

Cole Palmer vs Michael Olise
Palmer and Olise, both aged 23, are two of the standout talents in this season’s Champions League. They’ve had contrasting careers so far, though.
| Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Chelsea | 99 | 44 | 29 |
| Manchester City | 41 | 6 | 2 |
| Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Crystal Palace | 90 | 16 | 25 |
| Reading | 73 | 7 | 14 |
| Bayern Munich | 60 | 24 | 24 |
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Palmer or Olise ultimately decide Wednesday’s European tie because they are major goal threats, both as goalscorers and chance creators.
