Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli has touted Thiago Silva for being one of his most difficult adversaries.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Martinelli had nothing but positive sentiments to say about the Chelsea defender.
Like many hailing from the same country, the young Gunner must idolise Silva as a true Brazilian icon.
Martinelli was only seven when the centre-back made his first international appearance in 2008.
A decade and a half down the line, the pair are about to embark on their first World Cup journey together.

The Premier League rivals will put their domestic differences aside for a few weeks as they attempt to add a sixth star to the Brazil shirt.
Martinelli shows love to Silva
With Martinelli’s youthful exuberance, and Silva’s studious experience, Seleção Canarinha have the right blend to potentially go the distance in the competition.
Especially when there seems to be real harmony in the camp, demonstrated by the respect shown from one honorary Londoner to another.
“Yes, of course (he is one of the toughest defenders I have played against),” said Martinelli whilst lauding Silva.
“He is one of the best defenders in the world as well.

“He is 38, and you see him playing now, it’s unbelievable.
“We (Arsenal) played against him last week, and you could see his quality, his composure. He is so good, a very good guy off the pitch as well.”
Chelsea crushed by Arsenal
Martinelli might want to avoid reminding Silva of the previous league meeting between their respective teams as to keep the peace in Qatar.
Arsenal strolled to a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge earlier in the month, with fellow Brazilian Gabriel getting on the score sheet.

Even Silva, usually so cool and composed, seemed rushed by the pressure applied by Mikel Arteta’s men.
That loss was part of a four-game winless league streak for Graham Potter, a record that will remain until at least after the World Cup.
Potter will be hoping all of his Qatar-bound Chelsea players return from the competition fit and ready to fight on all fronts once again.
