Liverpool captain and England star Jordan Henderson has delivered a glowing verdict on Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill.

Chelsea certainly have a brilliant talent breaking through in Levi Colwill, who’s a popular name in the media right now.

The 20-year-old defender is a product of the Blues academy at Cobham and proved last season he’s already Premier League quality, impressing during a loan spell at Brighton.

Now, the centre-back has been training with England’s senior squad this week. Our guess is it’s a matter of time before he gets a first official senior call-up.

Henderson, who’s been training alongside Chelsea’s youngster in the past couple of days, is impressed by his ability.

When asked how Colwill has done in England training, Henderson told talkSPORT: “Really good. We have seen him a bit for Brighton this season and he’s played so well and he’s come in here and settled in straight away. You can see he’s a very good player, very young but he’s come and handled himself really well in training and seems like a really nice lad as well. So he’s been a big plus coming into the squad.”

Journalist Ben Jacobs recently told ‘The Done Deal Show’ that Chelsea think Colwill has the potential to be one of the best centre-halves in the Premier League.

We don’t want to go overboard on someone yet to make his first-team debut in Chelsea colours, but we can definitely see why there’s such a buzz around him.

The Evening Standard reported this week that Brighton are preparing a fresh £40million bid to try sign Colwill on a permanent basis. They do add he’s not for sale and Mauricio Pochettino plans to use him, though.

He’s a classy and composed centre-back with sky-high potential. His involvement in Gareth Southgate’s England camp is yet another indicator Chelsea need to keep him and play him next season.
