Darren Bent thinks Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha would be a great fit for Chelsea.

Zaha, 29, is a player linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge during the final few days of the summer transfer window.

It’s been reported Chelsea have now made a first move to try sign the Palace attacker with an initial enquiry. Interestingly, Patrick Vieria’s side haven’t completely shut the door on selling him.

He’s started the new season with three goals in his opening three Premier League appearances. The Palace talisman ended up with 15 goals across all competitions during the last campaign, too.

Zaha would be great for Chelsea

TalkSPORT pundit Bent believes Chelsea are linked with potentially making an incredible addition at Stamford Bridge.

In particular, he reckons he would instantly become the club’s best attacking threat outside of current Blues star Raheem Sterling.

“I think if Chelsea were to come in and get him, I think that’s a great signing,” Bent told talkSPORT.

“If you look at what Chelsea have got right now, other than Sterling, he’s better than what they’ve got. He’s more consistent.

“He’s almost impossible to mark 1v1. He can just toy with people.”

Nail-biting ending

The transfer window closes on Thursday night, but the constant stream of Chelsea transfer rumours continues to fly in.

For certain, Zaha making the move across London at the very last moment would be a seismic deal.

He’s a versatile attacker that can be a real threat as a winger or central forward, so you can see why Chelsea have him on their transfer radar.

The Premier League proven talent is becoming a lot more consistent in the final third. Many have thought he would always end up joining one of the division’s elite teams, too.

With only one year left on his Palace contract, let’s see if the Chelsea transfer rumours intensify in the next few hours.
