Chelsea’s Cole Palmer looks like a player with huge confidence whenever he’s on the pitch.

That is according to Rio Ferdinand.

Cole Palmer’s eye-catching start to his Chelsea career continued at the weekend, scoring a penalty and delivering a man of the match performance in the 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old attacker had been introduced to first-team football as a bit-part player at Manchester City, so it was pretty obvious that the youngster had major talent.

However, we’ve been surprised by how quickly he’s impacted Chelsea’s XI after joining in the summer.

Fearless Chelsea youngster

Rio Ferdinand has highlighted the Chelsea youngster’s presence as really impressive.

“His swag, the way he bowls about that pitch for a young kid… He’s the truth,” Ferdinand told FIVE’s YouTube channel.

We’ve definitely spotted an aura and confidence about Palmer already since his Chelsea arrival.

He’s only played seven games and is new to the club, but it’s already hard to imagine Mauricio Pochettino dropping him from the XI.

Cole Palmer puffs out his chest

We’re loving Palmer’s overall displays so far at Stamford Bridge.

There’s no doubt that he’s adding the extra creativity which has been desperately lacking in this group for a long, long time.

Now, it’ll be interesting to see how he copes with the increased expectation and pressure from the fanbase. Our guess is he’ll carry any kind of pressure on his shoulders with no issue!

Palmer has already shown nerves of steel by fighting off teammate Raheem Sterling to take a penalty kick against Arsenal. Incidentally, he scored the spot-kick to make it two goals from two league games for him.

Speaking via BBC Sport (9:07pm, 21 October) over the weekend, Chelsea head coach Pochettino called Palmer an “unbelievable” player.

We can’t wait to see more of him in this next set of games, especially as one of them is against former club Manchester City. It does seem like regardless of the occasion he’ll look to be positive and have fun on the ball.
