It is fair to say that Chris Sutton has not been impressed with one Chelsea player’s performance at Euro 2024.
Chelsea are well represented at the European Championship this year.
The likes of Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Mykhailo Mudryk and Romelu Lukaku have all been called up for the tournament.
It is going well for some, with Palmer and Gallagher both able to pick up a win after England’s 1-0 victory over Serbia.
However, things are not going to plan for Mudryk and Lukaku so far after Ukraine and Belgium’s respective losses to Romania and Slovakia.

Chris Sutton criticises Chelsea player after display at Euro 2024
Mudryk and Lukaku obviously had games to forget.
The latter particularly will want to pretend his match never happened after having two goals disallowed.
His and Belgium’s performance overall caught Sutton by surprise, with the former Chelsea striker criticising the 31-year-old’s touch.
On Lukaku, Sutton said: “His touch is so heavy. That’s three opportunities for Lukaku.”
The pundit also said while commentating on the game for the BBC: “They have surprised me. It is an ageing team and they have pressed Belgium so high.
“But you can’t get away from the fact that Belgium have had chances and have not been clinical enough. Lukaku has had three great chances and he hasn’t taken them.”
Chelsea need Romelu Lukaku to have a good tournament
Lukaku’s performance against Slovakia has not done anyone any favours.
After two successive loan spells away from Stamford Bridge, it is clear that the Belgium international does not want to be at Chelsea.
The Blues are struggling to offload their third-most expensive signing ever permanently, though, and displays like the one on Monday will not help them.
It will be interesting to see if Chelsea consider another loan move.
Right now, they look firmly against it. It has been reported that they have already rebuffed a loan offer from Italian giants AC Milan.
