How Mauricio Pochettino really feels about some of his Chelsea players

Mauricio Pochettino could be about to get ruthless with his Chelsea squad.

It has been a disastrous season for Chelsea, who lost once again over the weekend following their 2-0 defeat against Everton at Goodison Park.

It was another poor team performance and, according to TEAMtalk journalist Fraser Gillan, Mauricio Pochettino thinks a number of his players are not good enough for Chelsea.

If the Argentine has come to that conclusion, it is quite amazing really. After all, since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, the Blues’ squad has been completely revamped.

Have Chelsea really spent £1bn on footballers who are not capable of performing at this level? Maybe, but you also have to question Pochettino’s role in all of this and if he is actually getting the best out of his players.

So either the players are not good enough, Pochettino is not maximising the squad’s potential or perhaps a bit of both.

Chelsea players not good enough

Chelsea’s ultimate aim has to be to win the biggest trophies in football, the Premier League and Champions League.

With that in mind, are the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Marc Cucurella good enough to be starting every week for the Blues? Probably not.

They have shown that they can be good squad players, especially Cucurella after filling in for Reece James and Malo Gusto at right-back, while Jackson, 22, has time to develop into a striker who is capable of successfully leading Chelsea’s line week in, week out.

But as of today, the Blues probably need a bit more than that. If they want to challenge the best, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, then they need the best. But they just do not have that right now, which is insane when you consider the fact that the club have spent £1bn across the last three transfer windows.
