Chelsea’s Marc Guehi sell-on money could pay star midfielder’s wages for two years

Chelsea may have lost out on the signing of Marc Guehi, but they are still set to benefit financially from his move to Manchester City.

Marc Guehi was a product of Chelsea‘s youth system. He joined the club as a 7-year-old before eventually leaving to join Crystal Palace 14 years later.

Since then, he has gone on to establish himself as one of the best central defenders in the Premier League, as well as a regular for England.

Chelsea clearly recognised their mistake as they tried to talk to Guehi ahead of this month, but he ended up joining Manchester City.

However, the one positive is the fact that it won’t be Chelsea paying his whopping £300k-per-week wage if the numbers are proven to be true.

QUESTION: Who is out there that fits the description for Chelsea?👀

How much Chelsea will receive from Marc Guehi’s move to Manchester City

The person credited with inserting the 20% sell-on clause into Marc Guehi’s deal was Marina Granovskaia, who served as Chelsea’s Director and chief transfer negotiator at the time.

With Marc Guehi moving to Manchester City for around £20 million (as per Fabrizio Romano), this means that Chelsea can expect to receive £4 million.

£4 million may not seem like a lot, but when you put it into perspective, it will pay the wage of Andrey Santos for more than two years. He earns £1,820,000 per year (as per Spotrac).

Due to Santos operating at Strasbourg last season and only just breaking into the Chelsea side in the current campaign, he’s on a pretty low wage compared to his teammates.
