How much Chelsea will now have to pay Manchester United to get out of Jadon Sancho deal

At one stage, Chelsea winger Jadon Sancho looked like one of the signings of the season.

Sancho made an instant impact at Chelsea, registering three assists in his first three games for the club.

The 24-year-old also scored a magnificent goal against fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur back in December that inspired the Blues to a 4-3 comeback win.

However, he has not found the back of the net since then and his long-term future at Stamford Bridge is now uncertain. While they have an obligation to sign him permanently at the end of the season, it is now being reported that Chelsea can tear up their agreement to buy Sancho by paying a penalty fee to Manchester United.

Chelsea will have to pay big sum to scrap Jadon Sancho signing

Not making the kind of impact that he was at the start of the season, it is said that Chelsea are considering sending Sancho back to United by paying the penalty fee.

If the club choose to go through with it, it is going to cost them a big chunk of money it seems.

According to ESPN, Chelsea have an obligation to sign Sancho permanently for £25m if they finish higher than 14th in the Premier League and will have to pay a large proportion of that to scrap the deal.

That being the case, as long as the Englishman’s wages are reasonable, then the Blues may as well buy him, even if he has been inconsistent this season.

In the earlier part of the campaign, Sancho showed that he does have something to offer to this Chelsea team and he is still only 24. There is still time for the former Borussia Dortmund man to refine his game and find more consistency.

Every option remains on the table, though, especially with the Blues interested in other wingers. It is thought that Chelsea are looking at Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, for example.

Jadon Sancho yet to complete a successful cross in the Premier League this season

While Sancho did look like a real source of creativity at one point, even then his crossing was not accurate.

According to WhoScored, he has attempted 19 crosses in the Premier League this season but is yet to connect with a teammate.

If the England international does remain at Chelsea, it is just one area of his game where fans will be hoping to see improvement.
