Chelsea were crowned the greatest club on earth at the weekend, and will be grateful for the impact one new signing had on their campaign.

Joao Pedro was on the beach enjoying his holidays just before the Blues took part in the quarter-final of the Club World Cup in the quarter-finals.

He made a real impact off the bench, before starting the semi-final and final, scoring three goals in the process as the Blues decimated PSG in the final.

A lot has been made of the prize money the club earned for their trip to the United States, with the Blues earning around £90m from winning the competition.

Joao Pedro and Chelsea players earn £350,000 for winning Club World Cup

What wasn’t known though was the amount of money the players would be in line to receive as a result of their triumph. Enzo Maresca had clearly got them up for the challenge despite the extreme conditions facing them at the end of a long season.

According to The Telegraph, the Chelsea players claimed £350,000 for their exploits in the United States.

This included Pedro, whose astonishing impact earned him more than £100,000 per game in his first weeks as a Blues star.

French media were actually unhappy Pedro was allowed to play in the final, after he didn’t start the competition as part of the Chelsea squad.

Chelsea weighing up spending Club World Cup prize money on big signings

Despite already spending big money on Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Liam Delap ahead of the 2024/25 season, the Blues are set to continue making new signings amid the conclusion of the Club World Cup.

Fabrizio Romano has stated that Chelsea are discussing two transfers at the moment, with one of them being an attacker and the other a centre-back.

However, any move to sign a new player in the frontline is likely to rely on players leaving the club first, with Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson being linked with a move away from the club.

Jackson didn’t feature in the Club World Cup final, and a number of clubs are looking towards a move for the Senegal international this summer.
