Chelsea’s Cole Palmer attended Tuesday night’s annual event for the Professional Footballers’ Association awards, but some fans have been left shocked by the results.
Cole Palmer, 22, certainly had a dream first year in Chelsea colours following his arrival from Manchester City last summer.
It’s why Chelsea recently decided to give him a contract extension, which keeps him at Stamford Bridge until 2033. Also, The Telegraph reports that Palmer’s deal puts his wages on parity with Enzo Fernandez.
The English attacker was simply unstoppable last season for the Blues, scoring 22 goals and creating 11 assists in the Premier League.
As a result, Palmer was crowned the PFA Young Player of the Year last night at the awards ceremony. He’s actually the first Chelsea player to win the individual prize since Eden Hazard back in 2014.
However, there was no room for the Chelsea playmaker in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.

Many Chelsea supporters on social media can’t quite believe that Palmer wasn’t included in the Team of the Year, which is voted for by the players.
Here are some fans on X discussing the 22-year-old’s glaring omission:
One fan said: “Cole Palmer robbed. What’s [Declan] Rice and [Martin] Odegaard doing there?”
Another wrote: “How is palmer not in this?”
A third user posted: “Where is the Young Player of the Year?”
One supporter shared: “22 goals and 11 assists. And you don’t think Cole Palmer should be here.
Another claimed: “Cole Palmer has been robbed. Everyone hates Chelsea for some reason.”

Based off his special talent, Palmer should get used to attending these types of events. His aim for the 2024/25 campaign should be to make sure he’s at next year’s awards.
The left-footed genius does go into this new season with a different kind of expectation on his shoulders, plus opposition teams will now be very wary of his threat. He doesn’t strike us as the type of personality that struggles with pressure or responsibility, though.
In terms of Palmer’s absence from the Team of the Year, we agree it’s ludicrous.
