Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Chelsea are looking for a fee close to what they got for selling Mason Mount if they are to part ways with one player this month.

He took to Twitter to state that a package in that range is what the club are holding out for in order to sell Conor Gallagher during this transfer window.

Reports have refused to go away that Gallagher could be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge if a team are interested enough to put in an offer for him.

This is despite the England international being a key part of the Chelsea team under Mauricio Pochettino, starting near enough every game this season.

However, the fact he is an academy graduate with only a couple of years left on his contract does provide the opportunity for pure profit on the books.

Jacobs has claimed that while he is not actively for sale, an offer of around £60m would be likely to be accepted by the Blues.

Chelsea want Mount fee for Gallagher

He said: “Conor Gallagher is not ‘actively’ for sale, but if the right offer arrives Chelsea will consider it. I am told a guaranteed fee of around £45m and an overall package of £55-60m would likely be accepted.

“There is some flexibility, depending on structure, but broadly speaking Chelsea expect a similar number to the one they asked for Mason Mount.

“Spurs are yet to discount moving for Gallagher having tried late last window. But back then it’s understood they didn’t want to pay above £35m.”

Mount made it clear that he was not willing to sign the new contract offered to him a year ago by the club, and was therefore sold when the right offer came in for him from Manchester United.

It is safe to say that so far, things have not really worked out well for him at Old Trafford.
