Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has now backed Nicolas Jackson to turn around his fortunes at Stamford Bridge with time.
He told the Evening Standard that he has plenty of faith in the 22-year-old presuming he gets support from fans on a regular basis.
Last weekend was another tough outing for Jackson as the Blues fell to a 2-0 home defeat at Stamford Bridge to London rivals Brentford.
The Senegal international came into criticism from a supporter sat near the dugout, with him not taking too kindly to the fan’s words.
Pochettino also was not a huge fan of what had happened, diffusing the situation in the best way possible.
The Argentine has now claimed that with support, the striker can bring his best back to West London.
Pochettino backs Jackson
He said: “For different reasons [Nicolas Jackson] is suffering. After [the injury] it is difficult to train and then to score. Nico needs support. I understand the fans, they’re entitled to say what they want but it was a really quiet moment.
“I believe in him, I believe. The only problem is time. I don’t want to give examples, but he arrived at Chelsea in a situation that is not easy for him. We cannot be unfair in the analysis.
“Nico is young, he arrived this season, circumstances didn’t help him perform at his best. What can we do? Throw him in the bin and say he is useless? Come on, we need to give him confidence.”
With Armando Broja recently being added back to the injury list, there is no other real option to play up front for the Blues when they play in the EFL Cup tonight.
However, some supporters have called for it to be the chance for Deivid Washington to show what he can do after just making his debut for the club.
