TalkSPORT host Andy Jacobs thinks Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley are to blame for Chelsea’s recent struggles.
Mauricio Pochettino and Todd Boehly have come under criticism after Chelsea’s poor start to the season, but Jacobs says the Blues’ two sporting directors are largely to blame and are getting away with it.
Speaking about Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, who head Chelsea’s recruitment, on talkSPORT, Jacobs said: “These two have got away with murder in my view. All the criticism is falling on Poch and the owners, but I blame the two blokes in charge of recruitment.”

Pochettino’s side have won just one Premier League game this season, which came last month.
They currently sit 14th in the table, showing how bad their start to the new campaign has been.
Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley’s recruitment can still come good
Under Stewart and Winstanley, Chelsea have brought in a lot of new players and have practically revamped their whole team.
So far, most of those signings have failed to deliver, which is why the Blues find themselves in the bottom half of the table.
It is not a good look for the club’s sporting directors, who are going to have to take a lot of the blame if things do not improve.

But these players are young and have not been at Stamford Bridge for long. Many also arrived with no Premier League experience.
As time progresses, they may improve and start to deliver, so the jury is still out on Stewart and Winstanley’s signings.
If you are going to be critical, however, you can question why Chelsea’s new transfer strategy has been centred around bringing in young players. Their squad now does not have the right balance between youth and experience.
