Chelsea’s Thiago Silva has admitted he’s got the target to score more goals this season.
It’s certainly not his primary objective as a defender, but Thiago Silva should be a little disappointed with zero goals throughout the whole of the 2022/23 season.
The Brazilian centre-back netted five goals in total across his first two seasons at Chelsea, but he lost that spark in the opposition box last year.
Hopefully, the £110,000-a-week (Spotrac) star can rediscover his attacking threat from set-pieces.
The fact that there’s not many natural goalscorers in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad means it’ll take a team effort and goals from all over the park to do well.

Silva, who’s 39 later this month, is still desperate to improve even into the final stages of his career.
He pointed out that interesting observation about his lack of goals and the desire to score more.
“I think that obviously offensively I can improve because I didn’t get a single goal last year. This year I think I can improve my attacking stats a bit,” Silva told the Premier League’s YouTube account.

We’ll be very interested to see who Mauricio Pochettino finally settles on as his preferred starters in defence.
Journalist Simon Phillips reported via his Substack this week that Badiashile could be back from injury and in the Chelsea squad this weekend against Bournemouth.
Along with Silva and Badiashile, Levi Colwill and Axel Disasi are two more Chelsea defender eyeing a starting central spot in the backline.
