Jurgen Klopp has claimed in his pre-match press conference that he is confused as to how Chelsea have been able to spend as much as they did in January.

The Blues completed a sensational mid-season rebuild in the middle of the season, with the fruits of their labour on show for the first time tonight at Stamford Bridge.

The likes of Enzo Fernandez and Noni Madueke are likely to make their debuts against Fulham tonight, with Mykhailo Mudryk in line for his first start after an impressive debut against Liverpool.

The busy window followed a summer which was more frantic in nature, however also included a number of big names coming through the door.

Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella are just a few of the names who joined the club, however have failed to show their best form.

Klopp confused at Chelsea spending

It has not escaped the attention of fellow Premier League clubs just how much Todd Boehly has spent since joining Chelsea.

Now, Klopp has claimed he is confused at how it has all been allowed to happen.

He said: “I’ll say nothing without my lawyer. I don’t understand this part of the business, it’s a big number. They are all really good players so congratulations. I don’t understand how it’s possible, but it’s not for me to explain”

There is undoubtedly an element of jealousy from the Liverpool manager, who has been unable to address the glaring issue in midfield.

In fact, there only addition last month was Cody Gakpo, who has been far from his best since making the move to Anfield.

The Blues will host the Reds again soon, after drawing 0-0 at Anfield a couple of weeks ago despite dominating the majority of the affair.
