Chelsea manager Graham Potter has given his thanks to the Chelsea fans in his post-match interview for creating a fantastic atmosphere at Stamford Bridge last night.

The Blues faithful were finally given a comfortable victory to watch at home, with them running out 3-0 winners against Serie A champions AC Milan.

Goals from Wesley Fofana, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Reece James led the club to a dominant victory, which was required following the Blues’ dire start to the competition.

The fan base looked to understand the importance of the game they were watching last night, with the fantastic spirits seen at kick-off only increasing with every goal.

Potter was full of praise for those in attendance, giving his thanks for the part they played in the victory.

He said: “They were tremendous. I thought it was a proper Champions League night. It felt like a top game with two fantastic teams. They were really, really good tonight and I have to say thank you to them tonight.”

With there not being a win at Stamford Bridge by two goals or more since the win over Lille last season, there will no doubt have been an element of relief amongst the fan base that they were able to enjoy a comfortable victory.

Adding the importance of the game to the pressures on Potter as new Chelsea manager, the night could not have gone much better, with fans beginning to buy in to the former Brighton man after two consecutive wins.

Everyone will now be hoping that atmosphere continues into this weekend’s game against managerless Wolves, with the opportunity to enter the top four for the first team this season up for grabs.

After a toxic start to the campaign, the home crowd will be hoping they are beginning to witness a turnaround.
