Chelsea fans do not need to worry about Enzo Fernandez being out for too long.

Enzo Fernandez missed Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Brentford yesterday because of injury, but Mauricio Pochettino told TNT Sports before the game that he expects the midfielder to be back soon.

Fernandez had started in all nine of the Blues’ Premier League matches before their London derby versus Thomas Frank’s side.

It shows just how important the 22-year-old has been for Pochettino this season.

Enzo Fernandez could be back for Blackburn Rovers game

Chelsea take on Blackburn in the Carabao Cup next and Pochettino says he hopes to have the midfielder back for that match.

Speaking to TNT Sports about the Argentina international and Mykhailo Mudryk, who has also picked up a small injury, Pochettino said: “Both, they feel small muscle issue, but I hope that for the next game they can be available.

“And they cannot be available today [Saturday] both, but it’s not a big issue. I hope that we can fix in the next few days.”

Chelsea need Enzo Fernandez back as soon as possible

Chelsea are already missing some big players, including Christopher Nkunku. The last thing they need is Fernandez being unavailable.

According to WhoScored, the former Benfica man is averaging 71.1 passes per game in the Premier League this season. He is the Blues’ conductor.

Would having Fernandez available for the Brentford match yesterday made a difference? Probably not. In his absence, Pochettino’s side still dominated the game.

Also per WhoScored, Chelsea had 68.8% possession. What cost them in the end was their failure to finish off chances, not a lack of control in midfield.

Still, Fernandez is such a key player for the Blues and they will not want to be without him for another game.

Pochettino will also hope to have Mudryk back. He was starting to find a bit of form before picking up this small injury problem.

The Ukrainian was able to score in his side’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal before the defeat to Brentford. His manager, however, still thinks he can do better despite his recent improvement.
