Pundit Gary Neville has been full of praise for one Chelsea man off the back of his recent damning comments about the team in general.
He told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football that he is a big fan of Mauricio Pochettino, despite the fact that he was defeated at Wembley on Sunday.
Pochettino’s wait for a trophy in England was extended this weekend as his side were beaten in heartbreaking fashion.
The manner of the defeat saw a number of pundits come out and criticise the tactics.
Neville in particular did not mince his words, describing the Blues as ‘Billion-Pound Bottlejobs’.
Many have come out since this and stated that they believe his comments are harsh, considering the age and inexperience that they had on the pitch to end the game.
Neville loves Pochettino
Neville was clarifying his comments last night, although he did come out and defend his opinion on Pochettino.
He said: “I hope Chelsea do well. I love Mauricio Pochettino. He is one of the managers I admire most in the game, it’s not a reflection on him at all.”
It has already been claimed that the manager is under pressure again in charge of the club, after their pursuit of European football for next season took another hit.
Their best opportunity now is perhaps via the FA Cup, with them not having long to pick themselves up and get ready to get back in domestic cup action.
As far as potential replacements go, the Blues have already reportedly begun to sound out candidates ahead of what would likely be a summer acquisition.
It remains to be seen if the Argentine can do enough in the coming weeks to convince decision makers that he is the man for the job in the long run, with some reportedly not convinced by him so far.
