Neil Warnock has claimed he absolutely loves Chelsea’s Mason Mount as a player.
Mount, 23, was in top form for the Blues during their 6-0 victory away at Southampton today. He scored two and assisted another in the Premier League thrashing, which earned him a 10.0 rating from WhoScored.
Mount, along with most of his teammates, has really underperformed in the last couple of games.
However, the England international looked sharp once again at Southampton and tormented the opposition with his clever movement.
Certainly, Chelsea are going to need him in similar form to overturn a 3-1 aggerate deficit against Real Madrid next Tuesday.
Warnock, who announced his retirement as a manger on Saturday, gave a special mention to attacking midfielder Mount after the 6-0 victory.
“I love Mount. I think Mount’s improved [this season],” Warnock told the Sky Sports News Channel (5:18m, 9th April).

Mount soaring past last season’s numbers
Of course, the game isn’t purely based on statistics and goal contributions. It’s something Mount has referenced several times in interviews this season, though.
He’s now up to 10 goals and 13 assists across all competitions this season, so is starting to fly past last year’s record. He finished the 2020/21 campaign with nine goals and nine assists across all competitions.
He’s showing improvements when it comes to his attacking output and it makes him so vital in Thomas Tuchel’s XI.
There is a lot to admire about many other areas of his game, so combining that with regular goals makes him a phenomenal player.
