Frank Lampard has claimed he could tell very quickly that the mood was down at Chelsea when he became interim manager.
He told Steven Bartlett’s ‘Diary of a CEO podcast’ that he noticed instantly there were some players at the club already thinking about leaving despite a few weeks of the season remaining.
Lampard’s interim time at the club is best forgotten in order to not tarnish the legacy he has left at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues won just one game during this time, as they continued to free fall until they finished the season in 12th.
Many players put in their worst seasons since joining the club, and plenty have seen their time here come to an end as a result.
Lampard on Chelsea players
Lampard has explained that he found it difficult having so many players’ attitudes in the bin when he was looking to select teams to play the final matches of the season.
He said: “At Chelsea, if I wanted to focus on the 11 for tomorrow, that means I have to have 18 players over there, and you saw the body language as they walked off as they’ve been having it all season.

“In the end, I came back here because this was an opportunity to come to ‘my club’, but as soon as I got in I realised very quickly that some players were already thinking about what the future was going to look like and that was difficult.”
With the high turnover of players already this summer, and plenty more to come, supporters can feel confident that only a committed bunch will remain in West London this season.
Now, attention must turn towards who the club need to bring in to get them challenging again.
