Chelsea’s Jorginho has claimed that he needs to shoot more in games.
Jorginho, 30, is a deep-lying midfielder that is usually at the heart of the action in matches, but he operates mainly in the centre of the park.
The Italy international has actually scored 28 goals in 200 career appearances for Chelsea. However, 26 of his Blues goals are penalties, including one in this week’s Champions League victory against AC Milan.
The £50million set-piece specialist is a calm head from 12 yards, but it’s rare you see him crack an effort from outside the box.

Jorginho needs to shoot more
Chelsea’s midfield star has confessed that he needs to be taking more attempts on goal when he plays.
When discussing his FIFA 23 ratings, Jorginho said: “The problem is I never shoot. I should shoot more.”
There aren’t many in this current Chelsea squad that spring to mind when you think of shots from distance. It was very different back when the Blues had midfielders such as Frank Lampard and Michael Essien a decade ago who would shoot on site, though.
Conor Gallagher, who scored a stunner from outside the box earlier this season against Crystal Palace, is a genuine goalscoring threat from midfield. It would be great to see Mateo Kovacic be a little more adventurous in his game, too.
As for Jorginho, he’s an expert at what he does when it comes to dictating possession for Chelsea. Graham Potter is a genius if he somehow turns the Italian into a midfielder that bags goals from open play.

Jorginho future
If you see how Jorginho has played so far under Potter, you would guess that Chelsea’s new manager would want to keep him around.
However, he will be leaving next summer when his contract expires unless a new deal is sorted.
Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Chelsea are in talks with Jorginho about fresh contract terms, but they are not yet close to striking any kind of agreement.
