Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has praised Christian Pulisic and believes the United States international is going to be “a great player for Chelsea”.
Both Alonso and Pulisic have not exactly been regulars under Frank Lampard this season.
The Spaniard has had just 11 appearances in the Premier League this season, having Emerson Palmieri ahead of him in the pecking order in the majority of the season.
Meanwhile, Pulisic has been unfortunate with multiple injuries, including the latest abductor injury which has kept him on the sidelines since New Year’s Day.
The pair have played together just eight times this season in all competitions, usually linking up on the left flank.
Alonso said he could already see Pulisic’s potential back in pre-season.

Alonso told Fox Sports: “I think he has great potential. I think in the pre-season, he showed in a couple of games the things he is capable of, he looks like a great prospect.
“He has quality, he has speed. I thought he was going to struggle a bit with the physicality of the Premier League but he has done great.
“He has missed a little bit of continuity to show even more and to keep improving but I think he is going to be a great player for Chelsea.
“Hopefully with this time off, he can come back stronger from the injury he had.”

From the 16 Premier League games he featured in, Pulisic has had two assists and scored five goals himself, including the perfect hat-trick against Burnley back in October.
The 21-year-old is now back in the United States to be with his family and said he has recovered from his “freak” injury.
