Chelsea youngster Carney Chukwuemeka has claimed that the new manager has already told him he sees his quality.

He told Football Daily that he is keen to stay at Stamford Bridge this season and do what he can to help the club bounce back.

It was a tough campaign for Chukwuemeka to call his first at the club, with everything that could go wrong doing so.

The club finished 12th in the league, as the managerial merry-go round fully arrived at Stamford Bridge.

This has seen talk over where his future this season is. While he is not going to be sold on a permanent deal, talk of a loan has not disappeared.

However, the Englishman has now claimed he wants the opportunity to prove in West London what he can do and begin to develop his Chelsea career.

Chukwuemeka wants to stay

He said: “He’s [Pochettino] come in and said that he sees the talent that he wants to develop and to help develop me. Whether that’s in a month or six months, but I want to stay.

“I want to prove to everyone what I can do and help the club. So, at the end of the day we’ll sit down, come together and decide what’s best for me.”

It will be interesting to see some of the young players who are given an opportunity by Mauricio Pochettino in tonight’s friendly against Wrexham.

He has been keen to coach a number of the talented youngsters during his time training the side in America, and has even experimented with players out of position for whatever reason.

This has been shown as he used Ian Maatsen in an open training session as a wide attacker in his favoured 4-2-3-1 system.
