Chelsea staff feel like the training sessions so far in pre-season have been relatively tame when it comes to the amount of running.
That is according to well-respected journalist Matt Law.
Speaking yesterday on the London Is Blue podcast, Law has explained that Chelsea staff believe Mauricio Pochettino has gone “quite easy” on the player’s running during the first couple of weeks of pre-season.
The Blues stars, who are currently training at Cobham in two separate groups, will soon be jetting off to the United States to ramp up pre-season with five friendly games.
Our guess is that Pochettino’s famous running methods will really kick into full gear then.

Law has given an insight into Chelsea’s approach so far with the players’ fitness:
“I was told the staff themselves feel like they’re going to go quite easy on the running,” he told the London Is Blue podcast.
“From what I gather, they’ve been quite careful with them so far because of their injury histories.”

We think there’s a lot more to come for the players as the pre-season ramps up in the United States.
Journalist Nizaar Kinsella reported on Twitter earlier this week that Chelsea’s squad has already done Pochettino’s famed Gacon test, with Blues left-back Ben Chilwell emerging as one of the strongest performers.
The Argentine coach will be learning all about his group of players during this time at Cobham, but we can’t wait to see the pre-season games begin later this month.
Tottenham were always one of the fittest and most athletic sides in the league when Pochettino was at their helm. If he can replicate that with Chelsea, Blues supporters will be very happy in this upcoming season.
