John Terry will be expecting one Chelsea player to deliver the goods when his former side face Real Betis.

Chelsea take on Betis in the Conference League final and will be able to field a very strong starting XI.

Enzo Maresca can call upon the likes of Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez in his bid to win the Blues’ ninth European trophy.

Caicedo recently came in for praise from Robert Sanchez, but the Chelsea goalkeeper is not the only person who has been lauding him, with Terry also a fan.

John Terry praises Moises Caicedos for turning Chelsea career around

Chelsea believe that Caicedo is an “elite” midfielder, and Terry is unlikely to disagree with that.

Ahead of Chelsea’s Conference League final tie against Betis, the retired defender has hailed Caicedo as a “superb” player.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Terry said: “Caicedo’s been excellent this year for me. I think in the first season, first few months, wasn’t the player that we saw at Brighton.

“But I think naturally over time when you arrive at another big club, sometimes you’re probably too keen to impress and [it] didn’t go well, picked up a couple of little niggles, but I’ve seen him this year and he’s been absolutely superb.”

Caicedo was crucial to Chelsea securing qualification for the Champions League. The 23-year-old played in all 38 of the Blues’ Premier League fixtures as they went on to finish fourth in the table.

Unsurprisingly, Caicedo has caught the attention of one club with his performances. It has been reported that Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Nassr are eyeing a move for Caicedo.

Given his importance, though, it would be a huge shock if Chelsea entertained any offers for the Ecuadorian this summer.

John Terry previously snubbed Moises Caicedo

In February, Terry was asked to name his top three Chelsea players of the season. He ended up giving four, yet omitted Caicedo from his list.

“Cole sticks out straight away,” the former Chelsea captain said. “I think Enzo’s been very good. Noni [Madueke], I think he’s done well this year. He’s done a lot better, been really direct. I like [Pedro] Neto as well, so those kind of three or four would be my top.”

If Terry was asked the same question again, you suspect his answer would be quite different. Caicedo would have to be included after a 38-game season where the Ecuador international barely put a foot wrong.

Another solid display against Betis, and Chelsea will be in a very strong position to win the Conference League trophy.
