John Terry has named his top four Chelsea players this season, and his list is quite a controversial one.
Chelsea managed to beat Southampton 4-0 during the week, but their form of late has not been great.
Before victory over the Saints, Enzo Maresca‘s men had lost their last two Premier League fixtures. Still, some of their players have performed very well overall this season.

Although his individual form has not been great lately either, the above includes Cole Palmer. Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has defended Palmer and told his critics to back off.

John Terry names Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto as Chelsea’s top four players this season
As well as Palmer, Moises Caicedo is another player who has performed under Maresca in the current campaign.
Caicedo is in the top three for long pass accuracy among Premier League players. However, John Terry failed to mention him when discussing Chelsea’s best performers this season.
When initially asked to name his top three players in blue, Terry told DR Sports: “Cole sticks out straight away. I think Enzo’s [Fernandez] been very good. Noni [Madueke], I think he’s done well this year. He’s done a lot better, been really direct. I like [Pedro] Neto as well, so those kind of three or four would be my top.”
Neto has really started to win plaudits after his performances as a striker in Chelsea’s team. Following an injury to Nicolas Jackson, the Portuguese has played some games there and has not disappointed.
He netted in the Blues’ win against Southampton and is enjoying his new role. When Neto discussed playing as a No.9, the 24-year-old said: “I’m really enjoying playing there.”

Gianfranco Zola names his top three Chelsea players
Gianfranco Zola was also asked to name his top three Chelsea players in an interview with DR Sports.
In contrast to Terry, the Chelsea legend did include Caicedo. He said: “One is easy. Cole Palmer has been absolutely outstanding and he’s a boy… I like the boy and I’m sure he can grow even bigger than this.
“Caicedo, big surprise because last year when he came, probably to adapt, he didn’t do as well as he’s doing this year. This year he’s been really, really good. The other one, I think Neto has been doing extremely well. Very good, very direct, also good team player as well.”
The midfielder will have to be very careful when the Blues take on Leicester City next weekend. He is currently on nine yellow cards for the season.
It means Caicedo is one booking away from suspension and missing London derbies against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

With Leicester on a barren run of form and not playing well under Ruud van Nistelrooy, it may be worth leaving him on the bench.
