Chelsea fans have been sent a warning by a Chicago based sports journalist about a possible Ricketts takeover.
The latest takeover rumour from The Athletic is that the Ricketts family met with Chelsea officials yesterday to discuss their offer to buy the London club.
It is understood Tom and Laura Ricketts spoke with the Blues hierarchy on Tuesday before flying back to the United States, as they have their commitments with Major League Baseball club Chicago Cubs.
An eight-point plan from the Ricketts family, who are joined by Ken Griffin in their takeover bid, has set out their ambition if they win the ownership battle.
However, there’s already been a #notoRicketts campaign from the Blues fanbase, as well as protests outside Stamford Bridge at the weekend before the Premier League defeat to Brentford. The Chicago Cubs owners have been on the back foot for most of this takeover saga.
It’s very interesting to hear a warning to Chelsea fans about the Ricketts bid from Adam Rosen, who’s a sport journalist covering Chicago based content for FanSided’s Da Windy City.
Chelsea clock still ticking
The final four bidders in the race to buy Chelsea reportedly have until Monday to make any improvements to their offers.
It’s then down to the club’s board, along with the Raine Group bank that are overseeing the takeover, to make the final decision o then preferred bidder.
Afterwards, it will still need to be rubberstamped by the government and the Premier League.
Let’s hope for some imminent news about who will be the new owners, as this uncertain cloud still looms over Stamford Bridge.
