Dennis Wise has delivered his verdict on the future of Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
There was the usual pre-season excitement in the summer following the appointment of a new manager, but sections of the fanbase are already discussing Mauricio Pochettino’s future in West London.
The Blues are ninth in the Premier League table. There’s already a nine-point deficit to fifth-placed Tottenham, so Champions League football next season seems miles off.

Dennis Wise, the former Chelsea captain, has shared that he would give Pochettino more time at Stamford Bridge to come good.
“I think he (Pochettino) needs time. It’s a transitional period. You’ve just got to wait,” Wise told talkSPORT (11:05pm, 15 January).
“There’s a lot of players that he’s inherited and come to the club. I think he’s got to sort the right formula out and find the right connections. They are gradually getting there. It’s just a matter of time. You’ve got to be patient with what he’s doing.
“…Give him enough time, I’m sure he’ll get us where we need to be. He’s a very good manager.”
Chelsea should keep Mauricio Pochettino
We agree now isn’t the time to get rid of Pochettino.
If Chelsea have a horrendous second half of the season, we should reassess in the summer. But the Blues could yet qualify for a European competition and win domestic cup silverware.
Football.London reported earlier this month that Chelsea don’t have any plans to sack Pochettino right now.
Jamie O’Hara told talkSPORT last month that he didn’t feel Pochettino was under any pressure yet at Chelsea. The team has won three of the next four games across all competitions since then, too.
Let’s hope that this side is now really finding its rhythm this season!
Next, the Blues bid to overturn a one-goal deficit against Middlesbrough in the second leg of a Carabao Cup semi-final tie.
