Mauricio Pochettino has now been full of praise for one of his players ahead of the return to Premier League action tomorrow.

The Blues are in a crucial part of the season now, with results needed regularly from now until the end to confirm them European football for next season.

This has led to a number of his first team stars needing to step up and match the levels of Cole Palmer, especially as others have fallen around them with injury.

The manager was only able to name one senior player on the bench for the draw against Aston Villa, however the second half performance showed that they have plenty of fight left in them.

One figure who certainly made a statement was Noni Madueke, who has had one or two critics come his way off the back of antics not necessarily related to his football.

However, the winger was on target on Saturday, whilst also setting up Conor Gallagher in the 2-2 draw.

Pochettino impressed by Noni Madueke

Pochettino has stated in his pre-match press conference that he is really impressed with what he has seen recently from the 22-year-old, although has pointed out where he feels he can still improve.

He said: “He is doing well. He scored against Aston Villa. He is improving a lot without the ball. The challenge for him is to improve without the ball, to be more connected in the defensive side and I hope he can take advantage of the possibility to play more.”

It is almost certain that he starts again tomorrow night against Tottenham, with the Blues down quite bad when it comes to individual injuries right now.

The boss confirmed that he would be without both Axel Disasi and Thiago Silva off the back of their recent performances against Villa, and the back four will certainly be picking itself when it comes to the next game tomorrow night.
