‘In the next 24 hours’: Midfielder now set to undergo Chelsea medical today – Fabrizio Romano

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that midfielder Romeo Lavia is now set to undergo his Chelsea medical today.

He took to YouTube to state that the formalities over a deal for another class player to join the club in this mental transfer window.

It was reported late yesterday that Chelsea had now agreed a fee with Southampton over a deal for Lavia to join them this summer.

They have been interested in signing him for over a year now, and even made a late attempt to sign him in the same transfer window that he moved to St. Mary’s.

Despite competing with the very best in the middle of the park at the age of just 19 last season, he was part of a side that were eventually relegated to the Championship.

A move to a top side was definitely on the cards, however the main question was if he was going to be wearing red or blue.

Liverpool were keen to bring the player in, and their Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge showed just how much they were missing someone to play in front of the defence.

Lavia medical for Chelsea today

However, it emerged a couple of days ago that he was leaning towards moving to London in a similar style to Moises Caicedo.

The Ecuador International had an offer on the table for a medical on Merseyside, however he turned down the move in favour of joining Chelsea.

Now, Romano has claimed that Lavia is set to undergo his Chelsea medical today.

He said: “Romeo Lavia will undergo his Chelsea medical in the next 24 hours.”

It is likely that with him being announced before the deadline of registration before the weekend, he may well make his debut against West Ham on Sunday.
